Semi-dedicated KVM servers

The resources on paper are the resources you get.
No neighbours eating into them.

One node split into a few large slices, not dozens of small ones. Up to 64 GB RAM and 800 GB NVMe SSD, with unlimited IOPS, a dedicated IPv4 and a 1 Gbps network with unmetered traffic. Setup is free. From €29.99 per month.

In short

What is a semi-dedicated server and when do you need one?

A semi-dedicated server is a KVM machine with guaranteed resources that are not shared with other customers, and unlimited disk IOPS. At LowPings it starts at €29.99 per month for 16 GB RAM, a dedicated IPv4 and a 1 Gbps network. You need one when a regular VPS no longer keeps up, but a full dedicated server would cost too much.

Semi-dedicated vs. VPS

It costs more than a VPS. Here is what you pay for.

Same disks and same network as the VPS. The difference is how much of the machine stays yours when everyone needs it at the same time.

Guaranteed resources, not optimistically allocated

On a VPS the CPU is allocated and, at peak, shared. Here the cores and memory stay yours even when your neighbours are having a rough day. We do not oversell the machines these plans run on.

Unlimited IOPS

The disk has no cap on operations per second. That matters for databases, large imports and any application that writes often and in small chunks — the place where a cheap VPS stumbles first.

A node with few slices

A semi-dedicated server means one physical machine divided into a handful of large pieces, not dozens of small ones. That is why the number of units available is small and runs out.

No hardware commitment

You get performance close to a dedicated server, but you stay on KVM: reinstall from the panel, move, resize. You do not wait for anyone to pull a server out of a rack.

Frequently asked questions

What people ask about semi-dedicated servers

If your question is not answered here, message us on WhatsApp — we reply the same day.

How is it different from a regular KVM VPS?

In guarantees and in density. Same KVM virtualisation, same network and same NVMe disks, but the node is divided into few slices and the cores and memory are reserved for you. On top of that, the disk has no IOPS cap. In practice: with the same number of vCPUs on paper, a semi-dedicated server handles peaks better.

Is it the same as a dedicated server?

No. On a dedicated server you have the entire physical machine, including control over the hardware. Here you share the machine with a few neighbours, but with reserved resources. The difference shows in the price and in the fact that you can reinstall and resize yourself, from the panel, with no physical intervention.

Why are so few units available?

Because each plan takes up a large slice of a node. When the node fills up, the plan stays out of stock until we add a new node. Real availability is shown in the store, on each product — we do not promise it on this page, because it changes with every order.

Does setup cost anything?

No, the setup fee is zero on all three configurations. You pay the monthly subscription and nothing else.

Can I run Windows on them?

Yes, the machines are KVM, so they support Windows just like Linux. The Windows licence is not included in the price, same as with the Windows VPS plans — tell us which edition you need and we will quote the cost before you order.

What happens if I need more?

You move up to the next configuration, subject to stock. Above 64 GB RAM the conversation moves to a dedicated server — and we will tell you that directly, rather than keep you on a plan that is not enough for you.

Tell us what you run and we will tell you whether you really need a semi-dedicated server

Often the right answer is the Premium VPS, also with 16 GB, at a lower price. We will tell you so even if it means a smaller order.
